A Little About Me

Cobey Gong, hailing from the vineyards of Northern California, is a Bass player that specializes in Rock and Funk music. Originally starting on Piano and trombone, Cobey began playing bass in high school to record bass tracks for his band who did not have a bassist. Eventually, this would lead him to attending Berklee College of Music, where he currently studies Electric Bass Performance. In addition, he has worked with a number of prolific Berklee Bass professors, such as Mike Pope, Lincoln Goines, Joe Santerre, as well as studying with other prominent figures like Mike Tucker and Lil’ John Roberts.

Located in Boston, MA, Cobey has played multiple shows across the city; mostly house venues, but some paid locations, such as the Burren or Warehouse XI. In addition, Cobey has also played various gigs in New York, Nashville, and Los Angeles. He also works for the Silver Arrow Band based out of Boston that recruits musicians to play weddings and parties throughout the New England area.

As well as being into music performance, Cobey also has experience in composing when it comes to his own music, as well as other people’s music. His first writing experience started in middle school, when he wrote saxophone trio pieces for a group he was in called “Wind Problems”. Eventually, he began writing for his own band, and since at Berklee has helped write music for local bands such as Bed Sweater or Tobias Luke.
